The Downlow

Thrift Shop Poetry is the creation of two best friends, Tryniti and Amanda, who have been writing and riding together for nearly two decades.

Amanda is establishing herself everyday in the poetry world, with several poems published on online lit magazines from Ink & Marrow to Gnashing Teeth Publishing. She's been writing a poetry blog forever, and manages to do all this writing while raising a teenage son and working a full time job.

Tryniti is a pet nutritionist and snake breeder, who writes novellas and poems, as well as guides and scripts for her nutrition podcast and substack. Her first publication appeared on Academy of the Heart and Mind, and when she isn't writing or playing with snakes, she is reading, playing video games, hula hooping, or downing espresso.

Together, they have collaborated on several different creative projects together, and love shopping together, and decided to make it a regular thing by going to local thrift shops, picking out inspiring odds and ends, then writing poems about them at cafes.

Where

Academy of the Heart and Mind

A poem written by Tryniti, speaking on her personal experiences and feelings on today's societal expectations of women, through the lens of a modern day non-princess.

Eye to the Telescope

A poem about Mary Shelley and the love for her monster written by Amanda, for the Frankenstein issue of Eye to the Telescope.

Feels Blind Literary

One of Amanda's heart wrenching poems about her life as a young girl, and a moment in time where she felt small.
